+36 Internets | When is racism racism? The following video is a current internet-campaign of Switzerland's right-wing party. Elections are coming up this fall and they're making "foreigners" the big topic. Something like 20% of the people in Switzerland are not Swiss and they commit about 70% of violent crimes - hence movements to deport more criminal non-citizens have been somewhat well received. Either way, this recent campaign has been widely criticized and is probably going to be a matter for the courts regarding anti-racism laws. A court has already ordered the removal of the video from the party's website, because the actors were tricked into helping out - they thought they were helping someone's school project. Still, I do wonder what you guys think. The particular scene is about 2/5ths in, with 2:20 left in the video. (YouTube counts time left, I suppose) It's only about 20 seconds, but it shows peaceful Muslims and other foreigners during the part they consider "Hell" (ie what happens if left-wing parties win, whereas their "vision" would be "heaven"...) (note: YouTube pulled another video, so I'm not sure if this is going to stay up long) They followed it up with an ad campaign such as this one: ![]() Not sure if you can read it, but it asks "Aarau (a Swiss city) or Ankara (Turkey)?" So, would you consider such a campaign to be racist? Given that there is an anti-racism law, should courts step in and start prosecuting people? Curious what people removed from our politics think... |

| Has it been confirmed that this isn't in fact a internet smear campaign by the rival faction to make the right look like militant "war on terror" terror supporters? If that's not the case from my very limited understanding of Switzerland it looks like it is just backlash against people of low socioeconomic status being allowed due to a lack of a historically strong civil rights movement and special interest groups creating a stigma towards open bigotry. In the states participation in such movements/groups is heavy ingrained in the culture of our traditionally lower socioeconomic groups. This is reflected by more careful treading by our own ultimately racist officials who would gladly clump social ills stemming from economic problems with race if they didn't need to worry about votes. Switzerland needs a Muslim MLK.

| Yes, because the problems are rooted in economic issues rather than an ethnic groups alleged innate inclination towards creating social strife. The latter is what is being expressed in the videos above and is thus racist.

| It is just an old, well established political technique to turn people to your side by identifying another ethic group as the enemy. Hilter was great at it and allowed him to rise to power. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is doing it now also. It is easy to do. Pick a minority group whether it is ethnic, national, or some other grouping and tell the majority they are better than that group. Works every time. |

| I spent a year in Europe after college working and all I can say is that Swedish and Dutch girls are awesooooome. So anything that keeps the honeys happy is fine with me. haha it is pretty funny how Europe was totally anti-war and US the last few years, and as muslim immigration is hitting Europe harder and harder they are becoming more right-wing (Sarkozy elected was unimaginable a few years ago). We're of course no better, with our mexican illegal immigrants, but at least we're pretty honest and say gtfo if you don't wanna speak english and wave the US flag. And I guess our emphasis on $$ over everything else really helps. European politicians are kinda schizo, they tell people to fit in, but its ok to hold on to your own culture and create little ethnic slums. |

| I don't care if your white, black, chinese, mexican or whtaever there are many criminals that should be flown to some fucking third world country and dropped off there to survive. Not because of their race but because they are fucking worthless piles of skin. People with mutliple rape convictions, homicides, pedophiles, organized crime, drug dealers get out on the street because of overcrowding and parole only to keep doing what they do because of our revolving door justice system and this hippie fucked up belief of locking some guy away for 8 years in a hard core society of prison is going to rehabilitate them. Ship them the fuck out. I'm sure we can get 90+% of the public to agree that people convicted of mulitple sex crimes, murders, pedophilia don't deserve to be here so get them the fuck out. In 30 years it wouldn't suprise me to see reality shows like "Running Man".
