| Ok looking at either a lenovo t400 or t500 for school. I want to be able to run basic games on it, WoW, eqemu, nothin spectacular, no multiboxing or anything. Preferably I would want the t400 for the smaller display 14.1 as portable is what Im mainly looking for. Do you guys think the T400 could handle what I'm suggesting? +1 Internets | Does anyone have any experience playing EVE online or just games in general on the new MacBook Pro's either under OS X or bootcamp? What is the quality like? I know it will not be as great compared to an actual gaming laptop but I've had an old plastic MacBook for about 2 years now and I'm very satisfied with the build quality, while my other friends who have Dells complain about them falling apart constantly. |

| So here is the deal: A family member is looking for a new laptop. I have bought one laptop for myself and I can remember what a pain it was. You can never find the perfect model to satisfy your needs. Somehow one thing is always missing. So anyway, I would like to ask you guys for a fitting model. Requirements: 1. ~16" screen size fullhd 1.1 Not glossy if possible 2. 4GB ram 3. If possible numpad 4. Win7 obviously 5. HDMI port 6. Bluray 7. About 4 USB connectors This laptop will be mainly used stationary and will *not* be used for any gaming whatsoever. If it could somehow be used with light mobility in mind, it wouldn't be bad but that is definitely not a deal breaker. The prize is up for debate. Just post laptops you feel are a good deal. Obviously omitting models which sell for outrageous sums. Well, thanks in advance. ![]() |

| Hehe, you mean because newegg offers customer reviews? ![]() Well, I am not sure if I would trust those. While I am not living in the US and thus have not much clue about newegg, the local e-stores have some shill posts or stupid people who have no clue. |

| Well since my Alienware (laptop) is offically two + years old, games are starting to chug....Dragon Age to be specific is the first to be real noticeable, with about 15-30 fps on Med setting. Got real bad when protecting the dock at Redcliff, was roughly 5-10 fps, sucked bad. Anyways, for X-Mas, I may get my self a new laptop, of course for "gaming". Before you say dont ever get a laptop for gaming, im military and cant bring a desktop and monitor anywhere.... Heres what I saw that definently sounds good, price and specs wise compared to Aliewnare: Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G71Gx-A2 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000(2.00GHz) 17.0" Wide UXGA 6GB Memory 640GB HDD 7200rpm BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - Laptops / Notebooks You're thoughts? For the price, it definently competes against Alienware well. Or maybe save a few and get this: Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G71Gx-X2 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo P8700(2.53GHz) 17.0" Wide UXGA 6GB Memory 640GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - Laptops / Notebooks Last edited by Kidriot69; 11-07-2009 at 02:57 PM.. |

+4 Internets | I am still not convinced Quads in notebooks are worth it. They arent clock for clock faster, they suck more power, and on top of all that the extra cost. Then factor in how few games can use all 4 cores, as well as how few people multi-task so demanding apps on a notebook. Stick with a fast 2 core and do yourself a favor.

Sager NP8690 15.6" HD+/CORE i7 720QM/GeForce GTX 280M 1GB GDDR3/2GB DDR3/250G/DVDRW: GenTech PC Store Asus G51j-A1 15.6" FHD LED/Core i7 720QM/NV GTX 260M 1GB GDDR3/4G DDR3/640G/W7HP64: GenTech PC Store Here is why : 1 Core i7 720QM : 2.8 GHz 2 Core i7 720QM : 2.4 GHz 3 or 4 Core i7 720QM : 1.73 GHz You'll get probably the same power as a P8700 (2.53Ghz) for most games. And have machine thats better down the road. But as Jysin said, Quads are kinda "meh" for notebooks. I really hope we start seeing the dual cores with turbo on notebooks. Core i7-620M is just perfect (2+2 & Turbo). List of future Intel microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia But as 90% of the games are limited by the Graphic Card... Having a faster CPU wont change much... Still until we get 2+2 i7's its probably wiser to get a "fast dual" for gaming laptops. This one is awesome : Sager NP8662 15.4" WSXGA+/WUXGA/P8700/NV GTX 260M 1GB GDDR3/4GB DDR3/320G 7200: GenTech PC Store PS : For "Gaming" Notebooks, make sure you get GTX260M or GTX280M or HD4850M for graphic cards. Anything else will be a BIG mistake. | |

| I'm leaving overseas in February so I think i'm going to pick up a new gaming laptop before I go... when do they normally start posting the black friday deals? I've never done any black friday shopping before but everyone tells me that you can save hundreds of dollars if you struggle through the crowds. Do they offer black friday deals for online shopping or would I probably find a better laptop deal by just camping out Best Buy? |
