| Topics by forum Hi guys, In the last several weeks, I'd estimate we had to move 15-20 music, movie, book, or television related threads from General into the various House sections. Of those threads, about 10% were ambiguous as to where they should have gone, and the remaining 90% were pretty obvious. Furthermore, the majority of these threads came from folks who've been registered since 2002, 2003, or 2004, and who should know better. :P In the future, please try to post book-related topics in the Book House, movie-related topics in the Movie house, television-related topics in the TV house, and music-related topics in the Music house. If you are unclear about where your thread falls (i.e., if it's a technology/music thread, or a politics/tv thread, or some other sort of hybrid), feel free to PM me to ask. But for the obvious threads, please try to be a bit more conscientious about where you post them. If you're creating a thread about a band, and you post it in General, you're really trying everyone's patience. Thanks, Me

| Perhaps to furthur seperate topics, make a technology forum for questions on "How to build a computer" or any video/hardware problems, or just anything to do with technology. |

| Truth be told, I'm fine with technology-oriented threads continuing to live here in General. It's the obvious media-related threads, on the other hand, that irritate me when they show up here. A recent example of a thread that needed to be moved from General to Music House: http://www.fohguild.org/forums/milli...g-request.html |

| I'm a big fan of sub-categorizing a forum. I'm not a big fan of hyper-categorizing a forum. There is a line somewhere in there. I'm not saying I know where that line is, I'm just saying that there is in fact a line. Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything at all. Can anyone tell me how to get +1 RAM? |

All I'm saying is that movie-related stuff should go in our already-existing movie forum, and so forth. We have a handful of media forums that have been here for years in some cases, and many months in other cases. People should know better by now than to post certain topics in General. But don't worry; the reason you are not seeing things like Millie's Tech House or Millie's Political House or Millie's Global Warming House cropping up is because no one, least of all me, wants too many forums.

+14 Internets | A politics forum might be a good idea though - it's tempting to post those threads in Screenshots where usually a more active discussion takes place than in general. Threads like this one: http://www.fohguild.org/forums/milli...ian-2-etc.html should be in general, too - should keep the TV forum to actual TV shows. |

Example: A thread about HDDVD v. Blu-ray should go in the Movie section. A thread about Plasma v. LCD TVs should go in the TV section. Whereas a thread about computer equipment should go in General. I realize a lot of people have come to think of General as a default, catch-all hardware section, and that's all well and good. But if it's hardware specifically vis-a-vis media formats, it should go in the proper media forum.
