+2 Internets | IE 7, Word question Ok, here's your obscure computer question of the day. I use Vista and I have Office 2007. I'm taking an online school course, and they occasionally post stuff with .doc extensions. Now, I know that when I click on it, I can open/save it, and it will open in Word 2007. However, they also have Internet links IN the .doc file that, if I do the CTRL-Click on it, will link to a location with C://whatever. I know that that file location is SUPPOSED to open a file on THEIR server, and if I use a work computer, it does just that (at work, the .doc file opens like an internet page and I can CTRL-click and open their other file that's linked). However, when I do it on my laptop, it just opens in word and tries to open the file on MY C: drive. How can I get that file to open as an Internet page instead of in Word? Thanks. |

| Sorry if this seems retarded. But, did you try saving it instead of opening it? I don't do Ctrl+Click, so I really don't know what that does. x_x

+53 Internets | This is in XP/IE6/Office 2003. Vista is a piece of shit and so is IE7 so I'm not sure how well this translates. 1) Open up my computer 2) Click on Tools -> Folder Options 3) Click on the "File Types" tab 4) When the list populates, go down to the DOC extension 5) Highlight it then click advanced. 6) Make sure "Browse in same window" is checked. Should achived what you're trying to do. I think. |
