Need help

Okay, so I can't figure this out. I'm guessing it's a driver problem, but I've replaced both video/monitor drivers and still no change. Reasoning is because it's not visible at the windows loading screen right before the drivers are loaded. And dead pixels wouldn't cause lines like this when scrolling.

Perhaps there's some way to do a cleaner reinstall of drivers than how nvidia suggests, which is removing originals through "add/remove programs" first.

Edit: Meh, just realized that if this is a monitor problem, I probably wouldn't be able to screenshot it.

If it's a monitor issue, I don't think we'd be able to see it. So, I'm guessing it's some kind of video card issue. :\ Sorry, no ideas.

You need to start swapping shit out (start with the vid card). I think I read on some hardware forums that a screen like that results from vid card overheating damage? I could be off...

edit: *canned flaw in the matrix joke*

It could be overheating damage, but I would kind of doubt it. My cards never gone above 70 degrees c, though I do play games for 10+ hours sometimes. Also never got a blue screen from RAM problems either, so don't think it'd be that.

If you don't find a decent answer here, you should post the problem in a hardware forum somewhere (I like tomshardware.com), they'll answer much quicker. I know I've seen that exact problem in screen shots multiple times before, I just can't remember what causes it exactly.

I could swear a thread just like this popped up here about 3 or 4 months ago. The consensus generally felt that it was a vid card overclocking/overheating issue.

Are you overclocking your video card? Or are you overclocking it and don't even know it? Some of the boutique / gaming PC companies will overclock your components right out of the box, and you might not even realize it.

Not overclocking. Dell, so I'm nearly positive they don't overclock anything.

Someone in my guild yesterday mentioned a pixel fixer application, anyone know any useful ones, and whether or not they might help with my issue?

Pixel fixer things are for fixing stuck pixels in your monitor. We've ruled that option out. If you have an extra video card somewhere try swapping that in.

Does it happen only in firefox or on the desktop or with IE too?

Unlikely to be this, but that'd be an easy thing to test.

If it happens in multiple applications and resolutions, then it could simply be that your vid card is defective. I had a 9800Pro that did similar things, both in 2D and 3D, and had to RMA it.

Looks to me like your mind is starting to reject the matrix.

Turns out it was the video card memory problem, apparently dell computers come with self diagnostics thing to check them.

And now it's like 3 times as worse from reinstalling drivers.

PS for anyone who said monitor issue... How would you get a screenshot of visual error being caused by the monitor?

They admitted that it couldn't be a monitor problem since we can see it too
