+44 Internets | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, aka the Mormon or LDS Church: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia No idea what that other wiki page you linked is for.

+44 Internets | No, there's pretty much two. The LDS church and the FLDS church. The FLDS church is a small group that broke off from the main group when the church changed its stance on polygamy. I have no idea what your point is or why you seem to think the LDS church is "a sect." A sect of what? Christianity?

| Nah, I'd assume James could stand behind bringing LDS into the picture, since they both share such a similar starting background. Do Mormons really get taught that Jesus was from space and that you all become alien gods when you die? |

+44 Internets | They're taught that heaven is an actual place. The Book of Mormon mentions Kolob, which is supposedly the name of the star closest to the "throne of God". So yeah, I guess that means they believe heaven is in, and Jesus is from, space. They believe we're all from heaven though, not just Jesus. Anyway, they also believe that there are multiple levels or "kingdoms" in heaven, each with varying degrees of awesome. They believe most people will go to heaven, but if you lead a really good life, get married in the temple, get baptized, etc. you'll go to the Celestial Kingdom, get to hangout with God, and actually obtain god-like status yourself. So I guess the answer to your question is yes... sorta? Obviously they make it sound much more romantic. ![]()

| The Mormons are a cult that got lucky and managed to make it to "more-or-less mainstream religion" before enough people figured out what the fuck was going on. Scientology is trying to do the same thing. |

| I can't help but laugh my ass off every time a religious discussion pops up and see SO many people have strong opinions over issues they know nothing about. GG, ignorance.

| The only thing about religions you really need to know is that they all base their teachings on the existence of their equavalent of flying spaghetti monster, or at least have some sort of supernatural element in them. After that you can just point and laugh. |
