Not that it's any consolation, but even if they'd caught it as lung cancer before it spread the survival rate for that is pretty goddamn low.

Basically there is little you can do other than be there for him. I don't mean for it to sound crude or insensitive, but you will feel a bit more at ease once you know he is no longer in pain.
Personally I have it in my will that my life is to NOT be artificially extended if I don't have any chance I will recover. Pull the fucking plug, harvest my organs, and burn what's left (or throw me into the ocean, whatever). Especially after the whole Schiavo disaster it's important that everyone have something like this set out, regardless of how healthy you are.

Totally agree, I have told everyone that I love to do the above. I do not want to be a vegetable or whatever. If my brain is dead make sure my body goes with it.

Same here. Rode harleys, smoked for 35 years. Arms like hydraulic lifts. Was impervious to physical pain. Spent his time either riding motorcycles, or at the lake partying on his big powerboat.

Hell he only finally went to a doctor after a few months of "bronchitis" when he turned yellow finally and was like completely jaundiced. Finally seeing a doctor, they of course told him his liver has a problem, which they found was tumors.

Then they found the Small Cell Lung Cancer.

So they quickly gave him Chemo for the liver, or else he'd have died then. They actually got the liver working again and the jaundice went away.

So he's back home now after his first chemo, and excited to do more to kill the lung cancer. He feels fine physically and is doing great. Eight days after the first chemo, he gets E.Coli (probably from all the organic food he had JUST started eating to be healthy) and is in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital for 15 days, very literally almost dying a few times from that.

That's just how he rolled. Zero immune system from Chemo, and then gets E.Coli from spinach, trying to eat healthy for once, and then beats E.Coli while in ICU with no immune system.

He looked like Hulk Hogan, same arms and upper body (born that way, never worked out), except put a crazy Harley Davidson blonde Santa-Claus beard on him. Growing up in Mormon-ville, saying he stood out is a pretty huge understatement.

Hey Zeste.

Just wanted to say that we've had a few friends and family die from this disease over the years. All died from various types in various ways.

They are getting so close to being able to cure it. I was just reading something last night about dramatic results they are having with using the patient's own immune system. I hope that within our lifetime they will have cancer virtually conquered most other diseases that used to mean a death sentence.

Anyway, it sounds like you have your shit together. I think someday soon, if you have not already, you will reach the point where you just want it to be over. If you are like me, you will continue to think about him every day for the rest of your life.

My thoughts are with you.

Well 2 days after I posted and update, he passed away this morning at like 5am in his sleep, after 2 days of just being over the edge and in the last stages of life.

The sickness is finally over, horrible to have someone you care about just deteriorate. It's like now the closure came right away, and now the grieving and real sadness starts to build. I'm so glad he's no longer so very sick, so that momentarily pushes back the loss.

I wish I could post a picture here, but I don't think even my veteran internet ass could stomach a photochop.

Anyways, that's all I got.

Lost my father 3.5 years ago after a decade battle with cancer. I sobbed the first night but woke up with an amazingly clear head: my father's pain was gone, but his memory would endure. That was my crutch for the weeks of funerals, memorial services, etc. My advice is to certainly take the time to mourn, but keep your chin up when possible; he sounds like the kind of guy that would prefer the celebration of his life over the tragedy of death. Good luck.

the chemo is what really kills you

I had cancer a few years ago at the age of 20 and was scared to death when I was told about chemo and radiation knowing what the results of such things are. I then researched a great deal about cancer and discovered alternative treatments that not only work better than chemo but have no side effects and are cheaper. Now I am 25 and am cancer free and am in far greater health than the majority of people alive and am virtually immune to all disease.

The AMA(American Medical Association) and FDA lie to us to make a far greater profit than they could ordinarily make off of the cancer lie(and the pharmaceutical drug lie). All forms of cancer are curable even in their latest stages, it's just a matter of reversing all of the things that caused it and replacing those things with health promoting qualities.

I'm sorry I was too late to reply to this post to tell you this before your father died

Ok Lumie, time to walk the walk.

I have a very very good friend that is dying of cancer. The best doctors cannot save him.

I will pay you $100,000 in CASH if you provide me with three things.

1. Pathology report of your cancer including a biopsy of ALL infected areas.

2. Similar Pathology report showing the FULL remission of ALL cancer cells with similar biopsy reports. Since you have been years cancer free, your pathology report should show NO cancer cells ANYWHERE in your entire body.

3. A full, detailed day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year report of every and all treatments you were exposed to in order for full remission of all cancer cells to occur.

If you provide me with those three things I will pay you $100,000 cash and I will bankroll for my entire lifetime, any and all orginizations that you wish in order to spread this news to every human soul on this planet.

If you fail to provide any or all of these three items I would like you to just admit you are:

1. A troll (99% certain)
2. A snake-oil salesman (1% certain)

Feel free to PM me this information but be advised I will share the fact that you did or did not provide the required items.

If anyone else here on fohguild.org would like the $100,000, please share your cancer curing sekrets.

EDIT-2 messages from Lumie now. Still provides nothing to prove anything he says is true.
