Video Card

Anyone suggest a good vid card thats around 200 or less? My radeon 9800 pro's crappin out on me and making a loud pinging sound, need to replace it. Oh and I would prefer AGP.

It's not AGP, and it's not out right now, but the mid-range versions of the spankin' new DirectX 10 cards were just announced. Might be worth it to wait for those.

The 1950pro is as good as it gets if you're wanting an AGP card. This week I upgraded, also from a 9800 pro, and saw a big boost in performance (which was to be expected). ~$220 from newegg.

Yeah, I got the Sapphire one (my 9800 pro was also a Sapphire). I ended up paying a bit more than 150 for it, though. 8|

The 256mb version is 150 but the 512mb one is like 215. Is it a big difference between the 2?

Depends on what games you play and how long you plan to stay with AGP. EQ2 and VG will use 512MB of video ram, not too much else does currently but that's changing this year. If your computer is like an AthlonXP 2800+ or something like that, or you only have 1GB RAM, I wouldn't bother with the extra video memory because you're going to be limited in graphical settings by that rather than the video card... and you really should spend the minimum possible on this system and save your money to replace everything so you can get into PCI-E.

I mainly just play TFC, WoW and EQ1 if I ever return to it. I got a P4 with 1gig ram, dont really plan on playing VG or EQ2, so do you think the 256 one will be ok?

Welp I got the card and found out it doesnt fit and my pc doesnt support pic-e, only agp 4-8x. So I gotta ship it back and get an AGP one for a Dell Dimension 4600. Any recommend an AGP card to replace my Radeon 9800 pro card thats dying?

Ya I was going to but every site I found it on was PCI, unless you know another site besides pricewatch or newegg thats reliable I could find an AGP version heh, or at least a card thats as good as it.

Nah, I pretty much just look at newegg when I'm buying stuff. They do have various 256MB and 512MB versions of it in AGP though.
