I'm out in Centreville now. While I was in Fairfax I didn't have any issues either. I guess the crime increases the closer you get to DC or Hoodbridge.

i used to live in alexandria and there was a ton of crimes in our neighborhood (lived off van dorn st).

now i live in oakton and in the past 15 years only had one car in our neighborhood broken into. well that and a old guy from a retirement home ran through our neighborhood naked, but that wasnt really a crime.

Get one of those car alarms with the ear piercing sirens. Have it professionally installed. I don't know if you've ever heard them, but you'd have to be fucking insane or deaf to not leave once it goes off. Seriously feels like Richard Simmons is bouncing around inside your skull.

Best bet is to put a little (not harass) the cops to patrol the area more frequently and get your city councillor to do the same.

I think someone just tried to break in. My alarm went off, looked outside the window and saw my lights flashing so I ran outside and looked around. About a block away on the other side of the street was a guy on a bike and he was looking away. I moved my car to a more visible spot and he was watching me and came biking past me.

I think I might have to get mace or a tazer. What happens if I do catch someone breaking in my car, amd I supposed to say "HEY STOP, LET ME CALL THE POLICE YOU WAIT HERE". What kind of action can I take without getting arrested/sued for assault?
