+1 Internets | I have a few questions with the Nuvi's. 1) They have batteries right? You can take them out of the car and carry them around like a larger handheld? I realize the battery life isn't as good, but are there any other downsides vs. something like a GPSMAP Handheld? 2) Can you save waypoints and routes? My bicycle GPS records your route while you're riding and it can be uploaded to Google Earth etc. Can these do that? Basically I would like to be able to use it both as a traffic navigator and an outdoors/camping style GPS. Obviously it's designed for the traffic role, but are there going to be any major downsides using it as a hand held aside from larger size and shorter battery life? |

| The higher-end nuvi's allow you to program routes and save up to 10, but I don't believe they work backwards, allowing you to record where you've been. Battery life seems to blow. Nuvi's are listed at just 5-7 hours of battery life, so I can't imagine they'd be useful in a camping situation. The size on the more expensive models is actually rather small; they're quite thin. |

| On Monday I purchased a refurbished nuvi 750 from Amazon (through DigiTechDeals). It got here yesterday and it is awesome. Even though it's refurbished, it looks brand new. It even came with the protective plastic screen on the GPS itself and also the suction cup mounting unit. $275, no shipping, no tax to California. It seems like the most bang for your buck, considering the quality of the unit. The screen is big and bright and it tracks things really quickly. |

| I bought a Garmin Nuvi 200 a few weeks ago. 150$ at bestbuy + 50 dollar off coupon. So I got it for 100$ even. I love the thing. By far my favorite feature is GPS speedometer, since my cars actual speedo is off by a few mph.
