why is my WMP displaying green?

All my .wmv files display nothing but green on screen, and I get full sound. This happened out of nowhere.

What the fuck?

Either your codecs or your video drivers got fucked. Happened when I upgraded video drivers a while back.

Actually, this has been happening to me every single format/install, lately, using the most recent ATI drivers. Anyone know how to fix it?

edit - should clarify, it's not just a solid green... most of the colors are merged together, and it's a variety of pinks, greens, bright blues. Impossible to watch as is.

I just had a similiar problem with WMP using nVidia card. Brand new install new comp and the screen had a red tint to it and nothing I could do would change it. Updated everything. Turns out it is an issue with the latest driver build from nVidia and I had to go into the nVidia control panel get to the tv&video settings and click restore defaults.

Honestly all mindless MS bashing aside what is wrong with WMP other than crappy visual plugins?

I prefer the Media Player Classic. Less bloat and plays just fine. Not as pretty lookin, but it gets the job done.

WMP works fine, it just has a bunch of features I don't need immediate access too. VLC and MPC work just as fine and have a much more elegant GUI (to me). As with most things though, use what works for you. If it doesn't work, try a competitor. Welcome to capitalism.
