Out of state speeding tickets

Does anyone have any information on out of state speeding tickets?

That is, you got a ticket for speeding in a different state than your liscence plate is registered in and where you live at? I heard there's some runaround you can do.

I got a ticket for going 104 in 70 driving home from California a couple weeks ago and I just got the bill which is $720

So I'm trying to figure out if there's a way around it, or at least to lower it.

I had a buddy couple years ago, went to CA with his girlfriend to pick up a car he bought. On the way back the two got busted by helicopter doing over 105, got a ticket for over 1200 each. He had to go back to CA and got them reduced to half when he talked to the judge. So my guess is you can talk to the judge, and see if he will lower it for hardship reasons. If you let it go they will suspend your liscense, but that might only be for CA not sure on that.

Shit, I'm glad that I didn't get busted 5 mins before I did when I was going 115 in 70.

I don't think I have to make a court appearance or anything. I don't know if driving down to California on the risk of it getting reduced by $310 would be worth it, gas alone is $100.

I just thought there was some law where nothing can affect you when you are out of the state, but basically if I drove in the state again and got caught I'd be screwed. I don't know what the law is.

This is just kind of messed up because the cop gave me a number to call and told me to call within the next 10 days to get it taken care of. I called a million times in the next month and they kept telling me my ticket # wasn't in the ysstem yet and to call bakc. And now I get something in the mail telling me to write them a check and send it back. So why the hell did he tell me to call these people?

Also he gave me an Infraction not a Misdemeanor. Aren't infractions lesser?

If you stay out of the state forever... you don't have to worry about it.

Under the DLC (Drivers Liscense compact), each state is required to report a conviction of a traffic violation that occurred within its jurisdiction to the licensing authority of the motorist's home state. Upon receiving report of a conviction of a violation, the states must take appropriate action (for example suspension, revocation or limitation of driving privileges). Every state is a member of the DLC except Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Unless the out of state infraction happened in one of these five states, chances are it WILL be reported to your home DMV!
Just ignoring it is probably the worst thing you can do...

If you don't pay it:

1) the Judge issues a warrant for your arrest
2) the state you live in suspends your license
3) you get arrested and sent you to CA to face the Judge

Pay the ticket, and don't drive like such an asshole anymore.

yes of course asscunt, because speeding is only for assholes... right.

if speeding is for assholes, i'd say atleast 80% of truck drivers need to get their lisence revoked, permanently. some polesmoker mother fucker almost killed me tonight cause the "asshole" was speeding and was in a rush to get somewhere, he was going like 140(khm) in a 100(khm) zone. the guy was in the far right lane and swerved like a fucking maniac into the left lane, wich i was in. truck drivers around my area are fucking sick and twisted sonsa bitches man im telling you, the shit i see makes me wish i had a video camera on me at all times.

then the ricers, haha oh god. go go fucking montreal for its huge street racing fans.

There is no such law. At *best* the ticket will not show up on your driving record, but that can depend on whether or not the two states have reciprocity when it comes to moving violations.
