Human Race Extinction...

This is just a far fetched idea and only one succinct element of what may finish off the human race some far off date unkown.

Everyone's seen the stickfigure alien pictures that show large heads with big eyes and very thin limbs/torsos. I forget where I read or heard about the extinction of some race came from their inability to reproduce. Basically they evolved so far that they were almost completely intellectual beings that cared nothing for doing anything physical anymore because they no longer needed to. Well that led to the degradation of their reproductive abilities over generations and eventually caused them all to die out. (I think I saw this on Dr Who iirc).

This pops into my mind every now and then but I don't agree with it. I think that as we evolve and need to perform physical tasks less and less we will see the need to maintain our physical strength as well as cultivate our mental faculties. The result of maintaining both will ensure that we never evolve past reproducing ourselves until we die out.

Farfetched I know... but I thought it was somewhat of an interesting topic even if it is a bit of a microcosm.

Selective pressure cannot limit virility as long as there are sufficent resources to sustain the populations.

Actually, with the way the internet is turning out, we'd prolly evolve into giant walking penises and vaginas. We'd build technology to feed and warm us so as to dedicate every waking moment to fucking.

You can see it now... fashion models are compromising their health in exchange for enhanced sexuality. Decent god-fearing men shaving their balls (so i hear, um). And a vast proportion of the data throughput of the global thoughtspace is dedicated to the scrutiny, enjoyment, study and analysis of fucking.

I dunno... if a civilization were to get advanced enough to circumvent einsteinian physics, they should be able to build autonomous tools to accomplish tasks like planetary surveys, or specimen collection or whatever menial work that is dangerous or time-consuming, they should be able to make self-sustaining drones that can do the work for them.

Such a civilization would have the tools to make these drones out of self-sustaining biological material, and most importantly, such a civilization wouldn't allow such drones any capacity for reproduction.

The grey's masters are prolly giant hyperevolved penises and vaginas floating in a vat fucking all day.

Being able to mold our environment and the need for physical movement will always put some emphasis on physical attirbutes in the future. Plus we're a competitive bunch..

We all love to fuck, smart people to dumb people.. if you're not fucking you're wishing you were. I don't think that will ever die out.. I don't think we'll go extinct because we stopped wanting to fuck. On the other hand theres a good chance that some jackass is going to be come out with the next greatest thing and it's going to kill us before we even realize it :P Who knows though
