| You are not damn right | Photoshop tutorial? Anywhere that I can get a basic tutorial in photoshop? Or anyone mind spending a few minutes taking me under their wing on aim or something? Basically I just want to know very basic things, how to size and line up images evenly, how to manipulate photos very slightly. I don't know where to begin.

| Plugged In Like Neo | There's no such thing as a quick tutorial to Photoshop, unless you're wanting a tut on something specific. If you want to narrow it down to what you want to do in specific, I could help you out with some links. Otherwise, buy Photoshop for Dummies and just fiddle with the program. Best way to learn it is just mess around with buttons and figure out what they can do =) |

| Isn't there a bunch of tutorials on the disks anyway? But yeah, get a book - the software is incredibly complex to use well. If your just looking to do basic stuff, then perhaps a simpler package may be more useful. Edit: If you just want to clean up your photos, then maybe Picassa is a better choice? |

| If you want to learn Photoshop quickly.. 3d buzz has awesome video tutorials that arn't terribly boring or long for sale. You can get that and their Web Design 1 and 2 discs right now for only $60 which is a damn steal considering each of the Web Design DVDs (1 & 2) are normally $100 each, plus whatever their photoshop videos sale for ( I dont think they have been sold individually before). So basically you get about $260ish worth of training for only $60, but thats only going on at the moment and who knows how much longer it will last... heres the link for those interested http://www.3dbuzz.com/xcart/customer...=40&cat=&page= I would really recommend it. |

| on a side note, is the GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) comparable at all to photoshop and/or worth learning? i want to learn an image editor, and the freeness of gimp is appealing. |

GIMP is indeed unfriendly to the user, and I consider myself one who can easily pick up software. how much does photoshop actualy run for? ps. if anyone has any advice on said option, pm me. I can trade roms (provided I get a place I'm not too retarded to upload them to) Last edited by ... : 09-07-2006 at 06:44 AM.

There's a 30 day trial of CS2 you can get, when I installed the trial it also installed something called Image Ready which is severly limited (and targetted at getting graphics web ready) but didn't seem to expire. Personally, I think $600 is way to much to pay for software for home / putzing around use. If I used it for my work, and I have in the past then I would & have bought a license. But for home use, no. If you google around you can find a keygen, scan for viruses/spyware first then make a free key before installing the trial. If you ever start using it to make money for yourself or someone else then pony up and buy it.

| Don't get a book. Don't be a pussy. The best way to learn photoshop is to say, "I want to do this" and then search for a tutorial on the internet to do it or just fiddle around until you figure out how. Photoshop is complex, but it's not necessarily hard. A book is going to be covering way too much shit |
