1 Internets | Video Editing Help Please forgive my ignorance, as I was sort of given the task of video editing at my job, and I have no prior experience with it. So I have just sort of jumped into it and hoped for the best. My first question. Is it possible to just take a video, and clip out 1 or 2 very small parts of it without having to go through the entire process of producing the video? We recorded a training webinar using gotomeeting. I forgot to change a setting in the recording options that automatically converts the file to a standard wmv file after the recording is complete. So it is in wmv format now, but it requires the gotomeeting codec. So far I have not been able to edit this video, and produce it or finish it with any editing software I have tried. There is something with the gotomeeting codec that is stopping the editors from finishing it. So I was hoping to find a way to just clip out 2 parts of the video without having to go through the entire process. Is that possible at all, or am I stuck with the video as is? I hope this all makes sense, and if not let me know and I will attempt to explain it better. If this is not possible, does anyone know of any editor out there that will let me edit and produce a video that has the gotomeeting codec in it? Thanks for any help. |

15 Internets | Did you try the windows editor (wmeditor)? You may want to try that, but I'd grab the um, version 9? codec pack and the newest editor and give it a go. Adobe premier is pretty sweet, but not user friendly for anyone not familiar with it. I recently did a mini-reformat or I'd actually be of more help. Sowwy. |

1 Internets | I actually tried both of those, and no go. What happens is when I go to produce it or finish it, it will begin to convert it, and then either lock up or just continue to try but not get anywhere. Using windows movie maker, once I go to finish it, it never even reaches 1% and the estimated complete time is over 40k minutes. I also tried Vegas and it will get to about 3 seconds of video done, and then lock up. |

15 Internets | WMM has the worst quality I've seen, I wouldn't use that. Did you try Adobe? AP should pull it off, but I doubt anyone else will be able to play it without having it, too. From experience, I have learned to never send anything to a windows program unless I am certain I am done, once it is a wmv file, nothing else will edit it. PS: Did you want this moved still? |

1 Internets | No thats okay. I think I have found a workaround for it that will be a pain in the ass, but it will get done. From everything I have found out it doesn't seem like there is a way to edit it with the gotomeeting codec. I even called their tech support and the guy said, "Uhh, yeah we have heard about that problem. Sorry about that." Fun stuff |
