Fraps Video Editing?

So I'm really engrossed with Oblivion right now and have been taking short fraps clips of one of my character's progression. Basically, I'll record fight scenes and significant questing action (pwning oblivion, eating fetuses, stabbing old women in faces, unleashing daedra on town, possessing people, going vampire on people) and I want to put the clips together in a sort of montage to show off his development, but I'm a total noob at video editing eg: i've never attempted it before.

Anyone know of a relatively simple or easy to learn program that I can a.) cut, paste, and compile clips from separate videos and b.) add transitions/simple effects? I'd be editing fraps videos exclusively, and I remember reading somewhere in these forums (screenshots maybe?) about a good video editor in conjunction with fraps; search function didn't turn up what I was looking for but perhaps i'm just having another attack of the dumbass. Any suggestions?

Windows movie maker is what you want. It's easy, functional, and free.
