Java Problems

I have windows XP and have had this issue for a while, its not really crippling to my system and I would really like to prevent a total reinstall of WinXP for various reasons.

The issue is that whenever I close anything related to java the computer hangs for ~1 minute then reboots, also if I have java open (either from a webpage or other program) and I try to start up any game/non-windows program the computer hangs too.

Tried all the obvious things like removing Java and reinstalling it ect, but nothing has helped, so figured I would post here and see if anyone had a solution.

Should probably add that I can USE the Java applets ect just fine, the computer doesnt hang untill I actually close the java engine down again.
