| free .m4a --> mp3 converter Recently I've had to start using iTunes over winamp thanks to my shitpod, and I am really missing the ability to revert to playing mp3s with winamp in the background while I'm playing games, and hell. I think it's the better and wider utilized format. Plus I love winamp. So what programs do you guys recommend, as a converter for all these worthless .m4a files? |

Foobar2000's converter along with LAME 3.97 beta 2 is the easiest and best way to do what you want. The --preset standard setting is probably sufficient bitrate for transcoding m4a's. | |

| JHymn used to be able to scrub the m4p or whatever the extension is for DRM-laden shit from itunes down to normal mp3's, but the latest itunes versions broke it. keep up with http://www.hymn-project.org/jhymndoc/

| In Itunes, Edit-Preferences-Advanced-Importing Choose MP3 Select a bunch of songs in your library, right click, convert selection to MP3 If you buy songs from Itunes, I dont think you can convert them to an unprotected format I frequently burn protected music to a CD-RW, then import it back down as an MP3, and it works pretty well. Using a CD-RW takes a bit longer, but prevents you making a shit-ton of coasters (CD-R) GL |
