| Computer Problem Hey everyone. I come here in deep frustration after exhausting all my efforts to fix this problem over the past few months. I know of no good tech support forum and everything I have tried has been a failure. If anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. The problem I've been having is that my computer is doing random "partial shutdowns". That is, it makes a click sound, and then the monitor says "off mode in 5 sec" (what I see every time I shut down). However, the computer isn't completely shut down because my leds on my tower are still on and the fans are still going and it is still making noise. However, the monitor seems to think the computer is off. To get it back on, after one of these "partial shutdowns," I have to wait at least 20 minutes, and I have to turn the power switch off on the back of my power supply. When I turn my computer on after it has been off for a few hours, it always makes this loud buzzing noise for the first minute or so. It is hard to explain, but it kind of sounds like a fan is struggling to move, yet no fan is being blocked, I checked and triple checked. I also recently super dusted, so that isn't the problem either. Also, if my computer does a "partial shutdown," and I try to turn it back on right away, it will not make the sound, and will not turn on. I mean the lights will turn on, and it will make noise, but there is no "click" that you here when turning a computer on, and the monitor never receives a signal from the computer saying it is on. I have reinstalled drivers to my graphics card, and even tried another graphics card, and that didn't fix it. It still made the sound. All of my temperatures are fine by the way, it isn't overheating. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. Becuase there is no consistency it's impossible to tell. I have had my computer on for a week straight and done some pretty heavy duty stuff on it throughout the week, and not had one "partial shutdown," yet other times I will have it on for an hour, leave the room and come back, and the monitor lost signal. It can't be my monitor becuase I believe the sound to be related to the problem, and it wouldn't make the "click" i hear when it does a "partial shutdown". Comes from the computer. Maybe somebody knows where that click comes from? The click you hear a few seconds after you turn your computer on. The only thing I can think of is my hard drive, it is about three years old and was FAT32 (I recently converted to NFTS to try and solve the prob). Or could it be my power supply? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.
