Canada and the US are generally pretty damn close in terms of pollution per capita, if not identical. You could argue that we need to use more energy because of the cold climate, but I'd wager that it's much more wasteful living in say Phoenix or Las Vegas, due to the A/C.

There's really no excuse, though. Canadians like to pride themselves on being concerned about the environment, and how beautiful our country is and so on. The reality is that we're as bad as anybody in terms of pollution, and the only reason our country is so renowned for it's beauty is because it's so damn big and sparsely populated that we'd REALLY have to try to fuck it up.

This is what happens when your entire system of government is largely broken, regardless of who's in power. The country's been on autopilot since the early 80's, while politicians from either side rob us blind and blame each other.
