| Dish Network? Anybody have any experience with Dish Network? I had cable before but the cable company that services my apartment building sucks. I live in a studio apartment and obviously wouldn't be able to let them attach anything to the building. I hear they can install the dish on a tripod or something? How's the reception? Pricing? Service? Looking for input. Thanks! |

+29 Internets | I'll let you know thursday, as i just ordered it yesterday. It was $32 I think for the basic top 60 channels, which is really all I need as I'm not often home. I'm not a huge fan of satellite, but it's better than horrid Insight cable. |

+2 Internets | I'll just tell you that the entire GA Tech campus runs off Direct TV and I have it back at home (we ditched Dish Network). Haven't had a problem with it besides the rare outages in extremely bad weater. Much better layout than Dish and easier to use. |

| Dish is great, but they kept jacking up the prices around me untill it was over 80$ a month for not even getting any movie channels, so I said fuck it and watch only the simpsons and Fox now. |

| I've had it for a few years now. It cuts out about once per 2-3 months and usually only for 15min during the worst of storms. Picture quality is great and otherwise no complaints. I do like DTV's menu system a little better, though.

| Dish Network is GREAT if you own a house. Let me Explain. I went into Radioshack about 3 years ago asking questions, among them were question about Apartment installs and related questions to insure that they wouldnt come out and ass rape me for additional work. Three days after setting the apointment up Dish Network rep. comes out and imediately starts naming of why he can't install the dish. Stuff like I had to be within 20 feet of a ground box, signed consent from the apartment to run the coaxial cable 10 feet to my tv and the real slice of bullshit, atleast 50,000 dollars in renters insurance. So, I sent him on his way, called the salesperson at Radio Shack and his manager and ripped them both new assholes and got a promt refund. DirectTV on the other hand is wonderful. Check out your local Circuit City, Best Buy etc. The dish and reciever start at around 25-50 bucks and go up depending on options or number of rooms. If you have a clear view of the Southern Sky and a compass/GPS you can do the install yourself. The hardest thing is finding the signal once you fire it up, hence the compass/GPS. DirectTV has great customer support, short if any waits times, resonable pricing as compared to Time Warner or other cable companies. Lastly, your signal will go out in Very Stong thunderstorms. Its happens but normally doesnt last more than 2-10 minutes . |

| DirectTV pricing is great, Normally they will have better deals if you sign a one year contract. I would say around 35-40 for Total Choice package and another 5 dollars for Total Choice Plus. Reception and Picture Quality are Great. |
