9th Circuit Court, advocates of freedom or pawns of the devil?

Thoughts? I'm elated personally. I didn't really see it as a huge issue or anything, but it is at least a small one and this is a step in the right direction.

Bleh, I think it should still be recited. Take out "under God", change the words, whatever you need to do so that it's less "offensive" and assures seperation of church and state, but I think the Pledge of Allegiance is pretty darn important, especially amongst the young ones.

Seriously, people need to just chill, it never bothered me that the words "under god" were part of the pledge and I don't believe in god...

I think its gay in the regard that it was ever added in the first place.

But yes, it was added because of the "Red Scare".

Should of never of been changed in 1954.

Ofcourse im still waiting for them to rule the 1934 NFA unconstitutional, along with the subsequent 1968/1986/1988 gun laws. Ohh, I want the DEA/ATF axed too.

Bah! Dude, I don't care so much that its there now. I don't think most people do. But its gay that our goverment does anything like this. I liken adding this to our pledge is a step up from trying to rename french fries "freedom fries". Its just lame.

And while I'm all for seperation of church and state and I think this should have never been added, I also think there are far more pressing concerns right now. But, I'd like to put up those quote by the author of the pledge of allegience:
Quote:

It began as an intensive communing with salient points of our national history, from the Declaration of Independence onwards; with the makings of the Constitution...with the meaning of the Civil War; with the aspiration of the people...

The true reason for allegiance to the Flag is the 'republic for which it stands.' ...And what does that vast thing, the Republic mean? It is the concise political word for the Nation - the One Nation which the Civil War was fought to prove. To make that One Nation idea clear, we must specify that it is indivisible, as Webster and Lincoln used to repeat in their great speeches. And its future?

Just here arose the temptation of the historic slogan of the French Revolution which meant so much to Jefferson and his friends, 'Liberty, equality, fraternity.' No, that would be too fanciful, too many thousands of years off in realization. But we as a nation do stand square on the doctrine of liberty and justice for all...
This undergod crap just distracts from it. Not to mention changing the pledge to be consistent with the agenda of the current majority could endup with edits such as

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all, born and unborn."

This country is built on institutions like the Constitution. Ideas that trancend generations. The original pledge had that ability. It was to unify the nation after the civil war and the McCarthy-ites wanted to use it as a change to brainwash us against the evil atheist commies. That is beyond gay.

Oh, and the original author of the pledge was a preacher who didn't feel the need to add in "under god."
