| Diet, excersise, and gaming. Learning how the body uses different types of food is a great way to start looking out for your own well being. I have recently started to research the topic and its fascinating. I think its something that gamers should take into consideration if they are motivated or even curious about getting into better shape. Lets face it, we all want to look good. With the right diet and excersise this can be achieved and it doesn't take as much work as you would think. That said, I wanted to start this thread in hopes to share ideas with other health conscious folks around here and see if we can share some thoughts, ideas, or hell, even facts about diet, nutrition, and how we can incorporate these habbits into our busy lives. |

| Moderation is think is key...If you follow this, it'll allow you to have 6-7 hours of sleep and enough rest to actually pull off a work out in the morning. 60%-70% of people who work out regularly do it in the morning. I think you gotta stick to a certain time when you gotta call it quits and hit the sack even if your guild is still raiding. 10:30 - gotta hit the sack ... and work out at 5. And if you wanna push it ... heck do 50 push ups / situps after each wipe! also, have a couple of dumbles to do some fore arm curls during each down time (a strong grip is necessary to have a good work out) |

+53 Internets | Biggest benefit right off the bat? Water. Drink it until you think you're drowning. Then follow that up with a good multivitamin, calcium supp, and fish oil (and flaxseed if you want to spend the $). In today's world I doubt that most people get their RDA of vitamins, minerals, and water out of McDonalds. Shit, I know I'm guilty.

| cook your own meals and get some form of excercise daily. going out to eat - even at nice restaurants - is very rich. Last time I went on vacation I had indigestion simply from eating out every day. working out also gives you energy - personally I'm in a better mood, can do my job better, think quicker if I regularly excercise. When the weather is bad and I get in a slump, I also get grumpy. having a routine is important, but mixing it up is great too. I wasn't a big fan of running so I bought a bike and ride for 30-45 mins. Of course 30 mins of running is going to be a better workout. as someone said: moderation is key - in everything you do. |

| Most people prolly consider me to be insane but for the last five or so years... -I clean myself in VERY hot water 2x a day but I do not use soap on anything but my hands...EVER. Just really hot water and a lot of scrubbing. -I only use shampoo on my hair once every couple weeks, on any other day it is just really hot water. I use a luffa to get off/sterilize dead skin cell that would be removed in nature by being outside in the sun and fresh air. -I eat what I want, when I want. If it is healthy food (vegetables/non-processed meats/ect) I chew the hell out of it for an almost comical time period. For unhealthy junk food I underchew, just enough to taste it and get it in small enough pieces to swallow. Might not be great for my digestive system but actually completely digesting the shit in junk food is even worse. -I try to the best of my ability to not take synthetically produced drugs (legal or otherwise) and rarely need to. - For exercise I lay in bed and lift my junior year dumbells repeatedly before sleeping. I also run in place while watching TV, sprinting during commercials. When playing MMOs I lift 15lb dumbells I keep on my desk during downtime. -For clothing I wear nothing but suits (Black, Drk Brown, Lt. Brown, Grey, Drk Grey) I picked up at Goodwill and white cotton, light underwear and dress shirts. -I eat a lot of grain and take two shits a day, one at 1pm and another at 7pm. Of course, wiping with water afterwards. -I have been trying to start drinking a tablespoon of virgin olive oil every morning. -I sleep when I find time making sure to get at least six hours in the course of the day. I feel I have trained myself over the years to go right into rem sleep. My philosophy on life is if I was a caveman in nature would I be doing this? Granted for the hygiene parts I do not sweat a lot in the course of the day and some people need soap/shampoo because of what they are exposed to. -I am healthy. -I look good and have clear skin. -I don't smell, no I did not just "get use to it". -I am my ideal body weight at 6'5 -I can lift my own body weight a few times. -I take good shits. -I can run a couple miles if really had to and if I had to pull myself up from dangling over a ledge I could. That's all most people really need physically in our society. -I have a sleep schedule that allows for productive blocks, I am rarely tired. -My clothes look good even though I only spent 50 bucks on my entire wardrobe. My laundry is minimal.

| Just go to the gym or run on a regular basis and you don't really need to worry too terribly about what you eat. That's not to say you should be washing your breakfast burrito down with a milkshake, but eatting mcdonalds or taco bell isn't gonna kill you if you're active. |

+18 Internets | That really does sound like OCD. Anyway, just eat right and work out it's as simple as that. People always want a solution or an easy way out, there isn't one (at least for most of us, exluding you skinny fucks who eat a large pizza for breakfast). If you snack, snack early in the day, do cardio as much as you can... give your body time to get full. Most of the time you don't even really have to watch what you're eating as long as you don't overeat (which most people do). I used to go to the Y 5 times a week, do 5-10 miles on the bikes then lift. I ate healthy a lot, but most of the time I ate what I wanted. I haven't done it lately, but when I did I lost lots of *fat (only lost about 15 lbs of actual weight but I was a lot tighter and looked a lot better). One thing I'll never get right is getting enough sleep, but I've all but given up on that. |

/pizza I eat like shit and never work out.....ever. 6'4" 180lbs Blood pressure between 110/70 and 117/73. I have yet to see a Prehypertension bloodpressure. Blood cholesterol stands at 188mg/dL Total and with my HDL at 49mg/dl. And yes, I have perfect thyroid function. No idea...good genes. Maybe once I pass 30 it will stop but I have never had to exercise or watch what I eat. To sum it up, what works for some people will NEVER work for others.

| Why OCD? -Soap - If you want to go on rubbing tallow and lye into your skin every day be my guest. Soap leaves pore clogging residue regardless of how fancy its makers claim it to be. Clogged pores build up sweat and makes you smell even worse. Soap was practical for when people didn't have constant access to a constant supply of clean, hot water. Soaking in a hot tub or spending 10 minutes scrubbing down in a hot shower without soap is more then enough to remove dead skin and sweat residue. -Shampoo - I have long hair and my body works hard to make and distribute essential oils. People brush their hair mainly to distribute those oils from the follicle outwards. Why should I remove them every day? Once again hot water and some scalp massaging is enough to keep hair not smelling and healthy. -Luffa - It's not like I stand in the shower rubbing myself raw or anything, I just give everything a quick once over to make up for what soap does, breaking down lipids in the dead cells so water will remove them easy. -Eatting. Chewing is the first step in digestion, I chew healthy food good so it gets completely digested. I don't overchew fast food when forced to eat it because it allows more complete digestion of saturated fats and preservatives. Most vitamins are water or fat soluable and your body absorbs them right away. I agree it isn't good to swallow food without chewing but I rarely eat fast food and when I do it's just to fill me up for a while till I get home. -Synthetically produced drugs - If you want to consume artificial enzyme substrates and indiscriminate cell killing antibiotics feel free. A lot of people feel the way I do on this one. - For exercise - I exert myself enough to stay healthy. My cardiovascular system is sufficent and my muscles are used enough not to atrophy. People who over exert themselves running for miles or overlifting weights every day are constantly building up lactic acid and other metabolic biproducts faster then they can be taken to other metabolic pathways or modified and excreted. -Clothing - Suits get respect, they are easy to maintain and serve as a uniform. White cotton undergarments are easy to wash and allow for good air circulation. -Grain - Since when has eatting fiber for good bowel movements been a sign of OCD? It's not like im going out getting high colonics every month. -Olive Oil - It's good for you like castor oil. Lubricates the insides. -Sleep - Nothing strange here, grown man can get by on 6 hours sleep and the body adapts to accept it no problem. I'm a very laid back guy, i'm probably as far from OCD a person can get. OCD is irrational behavior, I am just doing what common sense dictates as reasonable. Many religious texts have weirder quirks about how to live life then what I listed above but they arn't considered signs of OCD.

Well.. Soap also contains anti-bacterial ingredients so that you are CLEAN. You shouldn't just be worried about sweat and smelling.
