| Rome Total Realism 6.0 Was just released today, and it's very good. It definitely lives up to the hype and was worth the delay. http://www.rometotalrealism.com Any RTW fan should get it. |

+13 Internets | So what exactly does the realism thing do? I remember cavalry being pretty dominant in that game, to a rather unrealistic degree. I think my biggest gripe with RTW was with phalanxes and how totally cumbersome it was to control them.

| The world map is larger and more historically accurate. The factions are more accurate. The units (mercenary and faction specific) are totally changed. The roman senate + 3 factions in vanilla are now one faction. This latest patch added an area of recruitment feature, which pretty much means certain regions provide certain troops. No more training roman units anywhere, instead you train roman auxiliary units outside of Italy. I think you'll enjoy the rebalancing of / new units. Cavalry are no longer extremely overpowered, instead you'll want a diverse army. |
