If you have fair skin, just pop every zit that appears! The scars blend right in!

I've got so much light scar tissue on my face, shoulders, chest, and upper arms, that there is no room for more zits on any of them at the ripe old age of 21.

Sounds extreme I know, but I lucked out in being so naturally white that the scars are the exact same color as my skin (unless its a big scar, it's usually a lot more noticible), that it didn't really matter.

I don't believe I had any permanent effects from taking it. I had very chapped lips, skin that was very sensitive to the sun and heat, and super bright yellow piss, but I think that's it.

I think a big reason I, and a lot of other guys at that age, had acne was because I didn't know a lot about hygiene. I'd get home from basketball practice and wait 30 minutes or an hour before I took a shower. Or I wouldn't wash my face immediately when I woke up. I just wasn't conscious about whether my face was oily, because I wasn't used to thinking about it. It's a big step going from being 12, 13, 14 and not worrying about acne to being 15 and having to battle it hardcore. Now, at 22, wash my face a couple times a day--anytime it starts to feel oily--and immediately after I work out, wake up, or whatever, and I use body wash in the shower.. Normal shit like that that everyone does is difficult to learn for 15 or 16 year old boys who generally aren't taught about hygiene the same way girls are, and who need to know just as much about it. I had to learn on my own really. But that was me being raised by my single mother in my semi-dysfunctional home.

My cousin was on that shit for about 6 months because he had really terrible acne, and he lost about 40 pounds and had to get blood tests every few weeks. It's basically Vitamin A poisoning.

Fucked up shit but it worked for him. He'll have scars, but it did clear up compared to how bad it used to be.

A lot of anti-acne treatments are based on zovirax which is a very powerful anti-viral agent used for chicken pox, shingles and other heavy duty illnesses. I was on this stuff when I got a savage case of chicken pox in my late twenties and I can tell you it's no joke.

Headspins and nausea like 2 minutes after you take a pill and it takes a lot to do that to me. Certainly nothing you can be on to clear up problems for years.

I'd be VERY cautious about what you use.

Just a minor derail: how were chicken pox at your age? I'm 21.5 and still haven't had em yet. Just curious as to what I can look forward to when I do finally contract them.

I had Chcken Pox when I was 19 and It sucked hardcore.

It started with a heavy fever, cold sweats, hot flashes, pretty intense fever. And then you feel ok, untill the sores start infesting every inch of your body. I guess when your older the sores are much bigger and more pronounced.

So evey inch of your body itches, it itches so much that you literally wanna rip your skin off.

Then the sores all basically fall off and the itching subsides.

But I still to this day (Im 33) I have scars on my face and other parts of my body where the sores were.

Seriously. Give your little bastards Chicken Pox when they are little if at all possible. A friend of mine got it last year at the age of 19. He was all kinds of fucked up and has plenty of scars to prove it. I on the otherhand got CP when I was 5 or 6 and I was just pissed my mom wouldnt let me go outside and play with my friends

Now back on topic I had a medium case of acne when I was in middle school. I just poped them and I have only one of two scars. I wouldnt exactly suggest the same thing but it worked for me. As already stated just wash your face/neck/shoulders any time they start to feel oily and it will help immensly. Once you start shaving regularly that will help a well. Just try and keep your face and other effected areas clean and try to wait it out.

I was perscribed Accutane or something similar when I was like 14, but it was over 300$ for a 30 day supply, so I went without. It cleared up by the time I was 19 or 20, all I get now is red irritation from sweat, but that's because I load freight in 110 degree trucks all day.

So the accutane is still out of reach then?

Hey, fuck you guys. I had medium to bad acne from about age 10 to about age 16. It fucking blows.

I still have fuckin' problems. I don't have any "acne" anymore persay, but I have been having huge dry facial skin issues for the last couple years. Fucking hell.

And accutane sucked, btw. So did that stuff that they sell on TV... that stuff that Judith Light sells.

Meh.

Basically what Mkopec described. I had blisters the size of the first joint of your pinkie finger over about 60% of my body and the itching was beyond comprehension. Fortunately I was terrified of scarring and developed an absolute Will of Iron(tm). I only popped 2 blisters and only got myself 2 scars as a result (instead of dozens or hundreds).

The key to fixing it is to get to a doctor IMMEDIATELY, if you can get onto Zovirax within 4-8 hours of outbreak then you can halve or quarter the duration of the blistering. Speed makes a MASSIVE difference.

Worse thing about Chicken Pox in your 20s or later is that it can be shingles instead, which is REALLY serious.

Shingles becomes kinda chronic, too, iirc.

I had acne when i was in grade 10 or so, mostly on my back and shoulders. i got prescribed accutane for 2 months. it cleared right the fuck up. after the 2 months i stopped taking it, and the acne has never returned since (im 22).

side effects were: dry skin, especially lips. dry eyes. that's it. nothing mental, and nothing permanent. overall i had a very good experience. it was worth it.

I got the pox when I was 7. I would highly recommend it, for the very least because of the sweet week off school hanging out with Grandma all day.

Seriously though, I think the scarriest thing about post-adolescent chicken pox is that it has a chance of making males sterile.

My girlfriend contracted Shingles a while back. To this day, she can't think about the experience, because it gives her severe panic attacks if she dwells on it for too long. Now that's fucked up.
