I'm not specific on the amount of deaths and so on because it's still unclear. There have been seven or so places hit - it's rather unclear I'm afraid.

Yes, I am a londoner, and yes, I am okay, as are my family and the predominant share of my friends - there are a few I haven't heard from. We'll muddle through. I hope that anyone here with family in London or who lives in London is alright.

Al Qaeda have claimed responsibility.

I ask kindly if the usual troll-crew abstained from their usual bouts of hilarity.

I'm wondering if it's not related to the Olympics, like some kind of warning of what could happen. They might have had the same kind of operation ready in Paris if we'd won, in that case, I'm glad we didn't.

What makes the whole thing more awful is that this coincides with the G8 meetings. Meetings that are primarily focused at reducing world poverty and that sort of thing. I guess this means that the terrorists are against helping their own?

I think it's pretty obvious that London was the choice this time because of the G8, not the Olympics.

It will be interesting to see what the political fallout in the UK will be from this. I sure hope it doesn't turn out like Spain. I'm no fan of Bush or the Iraq War based on lies, but for fuck's sake, we started it, we need to finish it now.

Anyway, my heart goes out to London and the UK. All morning they've been saying it was only 2 dead, but a recent F5ing of the foxnews.com page now says 40+. Fucking chicken shit islamist fucks....

If a terrorist wants to launch an attack related to the Olympics, I'd say they would target the Olympics themselves rather than the city that will hold them in 7 years. Yes London had a lot of media attention because of that, but I think it's just a coincidence. Even the G8 might be a coincidence, because I don't know when the G8 was announced to be held in UK, but I assume it takes at the very least 6 month to organize that kind of attack.

IMHO it's because of the Iraq, the strong anti-terrorism actions taken in the last years in UK, and the fact that there are a *lot* of islam extremists in UK (and they are pretty much allowed to do any speech they want in the street). But that's just speculations, and I doubt we'll ever know the true motives of the fuckers.

You mean, like cancelling the Africa's mortage, that they have already repaied several times just with the interrests? These were just means from old colonial powers mostly (UK and France being the largest) to not let them go out of their grasp just yet.

Rich countries have no interrest in making poor countries less poor, especially countries with oil, diamonds, gold and that kind of goods. Most of what we see is show off.

Hey man, don't preach to me about debt relief and helping Africa and all that stuff, I'm on you're side. But whether or not you agree with the G8 and it's past policies, this set of meetings was primarily dedicated towards helping the world's poor. And England/Blair was the one spearheading significantly raising development assistance, which makes it even more sickening.
