Best website hosting?

I'm looking to build/host a webpage. I don't know program code, and it's going to be simple. It just basically needs to host .doc files for easy access. It's going to be a show case of editorials/essays i've written, so I need to create something intuitive and yummy. I've used homesteads site builder tools in the past, and found them fantastic, however - I don't want to pay 20$ a month for their gay hosting.

I could go with someone like geocities, but the bandwith gets eaten up with that so fast.. also, I found their tools and angelfires total shit compared to homestead.

I could pay 5$ for hosting form homestead, but i'm limited to 10 pages and 1 site, not a dedicated domain. The bandwith and hard disk space would be fine. However, I don't know wtf the difference is between a site and domain and it scares me. Plus, I know I would need more then 10 pages.

Anyone have any ideas? Insights? I'd prefer to pay as little as possible, because realistically not many people are going to be reading it. Not like i'm some famous writer.

I got bluehost for $166 / 2 years. Which is under $7 a month. 20 GB, decent bandwith, php, mySQL, ssh, etc.

Looks like decent support, i actually chose it because someone suggested it here.
