Now that its March 1st, what New Year's Resolutions have you stuck with?

1. Still smoke free...barely

2. Still going to the gym...barely

You?

Interesting side note, it was hilarious to start the gym up again after Jan 1. Everyone and their dog came on down to give 2005 a whirl. Gym was beyond packed for about all of January (even at 11:00pm). Looking around earlier tonight, there were only about ten people in the whole gym; and most of those people were on the stationary bikes. Kinda sad to see people give up so quick, but a girl that works there says its the same every year on Jan 1, April 30 (spring break I guess?), September 1, and Dec 1.

Actually, the gym isn't the hardest part; its the fucking diet. Spinach, tuna, water, oatmeal, grapefruit, multivitamins, calcium supps, skinless chicken, and non-fat yogurt, brocolli, and kale for the win...*cry*

Stop Smoking Weed... Failed
Stop Drinking... Passed

I was weed free until the second week in January. Then was decided it was a bad idea, drug free 2 weeks now though and I think I can keep it up (not worried about the "drug" part but more about my lungs).

Also going to try and get lean and shed some extra lbs. Wasn't really a resolution, but everyday is another chance to turn it all around! (Trivia: what movie is that from?)

My resolution was to give up proccessed sugar completly, (aka, anything but frucose in natural form).

So far its fine, granted Ive been doing that for awhile before new years.

I "cheated" only once after 4 months and found out I developed a strong dislike of the taste, which has obviously made it easier.

My resolution was to get 100% out of debt with everyone I owe money to on earth. It was my same resolution last year, but I failed.

This year however, barring any massive unforseen emergency expense, I should be done by May.

nothing wrong with stationary bikes if you dont mind spending the extra time.

personally i prefer a 20min jog(2miles), some light weights, twice a day.

add to the 1-2miles of walking i normally do a day and ive shed a lot.

edit: your cutting out sugars thing i kinda did too. and i agree, the taste is wierd now.

I'm not big on New Years Resolutions, but this thread made me realize I haven't played EQ since Dec. 24th '04.

I never make resolutions, just guidelines. My guidelines were this:

Continue heading to the gym 3-5 times a week (I had been since late November alrady). Status: not so hot, I've really dropped off since early February, fucked up my knee skiing for one, been really busy for another, and just been outright lazy some nights. Gonna try to get back on that horse, I had liked the results I had seen so far, had been doing weights about 60% of the time, riding a stat bike for 45 minutes or so the other times I was there. I didn't lose a single pound overall (maybe one or two), but the difference in my physique is pretty huge, I was surprised how quickly the results showed. I lost a fair amount of fat, and put on a decent amount of muscle. My beer belly is almost gone, and I can see the beginnings of my ab muscles!

Stop or severely curtail smoking of weed. Status: here and there. Since the new year, I've bought and smoke 3/8 of an ounce. 1/4 ounce of that was over a weekend for a ski trip (vacations don't count!), was good times. The other 1/8 was just for lazing around the place, sleep aid let's call it. I'd like to keep cutting back, and not make a habit of smoking on a regular basis. Gonna avoid buying any for the next month or two. But at the end of this month I am going out to Victoria to visit some friends, and weed is goddamn everywhere there. Thank god vacations don't count!

Cut way back on drinking alcohol. Status: doing alright. Decided to cut back on liquor just for health reasons, being a mid-20's guy naturally it seems the only thing to do on weekend is to go get liquored. This is not healthy, naturally. So I've been trying to cut back, either by not going out or just by not drinking my face off if I do. Also been trying to consume less sugary type drinks, as well as less beer. Mostly just been drinking scotch, rye, whiskey, that type of thing. Either neat or on the rocks, with lime etc. Am developing a taste just for sipping scotch. Either way, it's better than drinking 15 rye and cokes and wondering why my mouth tastes like ass the next day. So far, since the New Year I've had maybe 4 or 5 big drunks where I get shitfaced. Considering that there's been 8 or 9 weekends since then, that's not half bad compared to my previous habit of doing that at least once or twice a weekend. Now I just need friends I can have an interesting conversation with sober.

Mine was to get beach ready for spring break, little over 2 more weeks and its looking good so far. Next 2 weeks in the gym will be brutal though.

Maybe I'm just stating the obvious, but for those with weight, or health goals.

Its alot easier if you come to terms with the fact that it should be a lifetime commitment.
I used to be almost 400lbs back at a bad time in my life, lost 200 very easily because I had a goal, then relapsed and gained back 50 of that before realizing this myself.

It at least for me made it alot easier once I realized that 30min-hour of my day for rest of my life would be devoted to my health if I wanted to stay in shape, and simply incorporated it into my daily rituals and taught myself to enjoy it as opposed to thinking of it as a chore.

Jesus 200lbs is a lot of weight to lose. What'd you do to do that? Or did the first 100 or so just fly off due to being mostly fat?

It was fairly easy just because even though I was very fat, I still lifted weights as a habit from days as school athlete.

So when I finally decided I needed to get back in shape I still had fairly developed muscles to support activity as opposed to complete atrophy.

YMMV.

I quit taking xanax which was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
