Power Supply question

I ordered some parts to build my sister a computer, but this will be my first time messing with a MicroATX case, and the included power supply is only 200w. I got her a 2ghz AMD, ATI 9600pro and Sony dvd/cdrw combo drive. Seemingly everything else she needs at the moment is intergrated, so will 200w be enough or should I seek out a better PS? Thanks for any advice

I also was trying to build a micro ATX or whatever computer for a friend and the guy at Frys assured me that the motherboards for them are specialized and draw 50% less power and thus a power supply over 200 is not needed. He said, in fact, I could stick a 6800 GT in there and be fine.

So I built a regular computer instead because I didn't fucking trust him. And it was too expensive anyway.

Name brand 300 watt is the way to go.

And fry's is a fucking liar. No 200watt PSU could support a microcomputer+6800GT.

Agree on getting the name brand 300w power supply. If you go generic you can seriously fuck yourself down the road.

You can also use this wattage calculator to get a rough estimate on what you need.
