Still waiting for a Feast for Crows as well. Just got done on my third re-read of the books... Jesus, that man can write!

Best book I've read recently? Definitely Catch 22, I dunno how I hadn't heard of it before. I highly reccomend it to anyone who hasn't read it...

I just started reading Orson Scott Card's Alvin the Maker serie. I'm about to finish the second book.

It's damn good. It's not the same spirit than Ender's, obviously, but yet it's got the same feeling to it. Very good books so far. I like how he mixes history (first years of America) and the fantasy.

Reading The Fabric of the Cosmos, though I'm too lazy to link.

Oh yeah, also reading The Portable Henry Rollins

Hyperion is quite good... I liked it, but I haven't been able to find the second book (Fall of Hyperion?). I think the same author also did something based off Homer's work?

While all of us are waiting for the Martin book to be out, I just finished this Australian Author and was pretty decent start to a series. A real must read for any Robin Hobb fan.

You should try to find it, seeing as it's basicaly just one big book split in two

Illium is the book you're thinking of, excellent as well... speaking of which it's conclusion, Olympos is coming out in a few weeks I believe.

Hot damn I can't wait.

Lately I've been reading the Chronicles of Narnia just because I hadn't read any of the series since like the 9th grade. Sometimes the religious allegory seems rough around the edges but overall it's been fun to read the whole series in the "correct" order.

I'll have to check out Myrren's Gift although I'm still on the fence regarding Robin Hobb. By the end of the Farseer trilogy I wasn't all that impressed. But then I really liked the Liveship Trader trilogy (but that might be purely because I have a soft spot for sailing fantasy). But then by the end of the Tawny Man series I was feeling kind of bleh about the whole thing again. *shrug*

But then she has a new series starting up soon that's apparently not in the Farseer world so maybe that'll help me make up my mind haha.

I read too much

I read Phillip Dick's "The Man in the High Castle" and Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" last week. I also recently read "Neuromancer" by William Gibson, which I highly recommend. I was on a big Robert Heinlein kick last year. I love "Stranger in a Strange Land", "Tunnel in the Sky", "Starship Troopers" and "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". All great books if you can stand Heinleins pontification.

I picked up George RR Martins "A Game Of Thrones" Monday and after 100 pages, I've enjoyed it. I read somewhere he started writing his series to compete with Wheel of Time. I don't know how true that is and I am not far enough into the series to know; I'm hoping it's better.

I spent the about 10 months reading Wheel of Time straight through. It left me frustrated and angry. After 10 books, I hate all the characters except Mat. None them are people. Perrin and Rand are pussies. I mean, c'mon Rand, Min wanted you to fuck her, Christ, begged you to fuck her for like a year and after you finally do the right thing and poleaxe her, you spend 3 days crying in your room like a little bitch because "you forced yourself on her". It makes me wonder if Robert Jordan was ever a teenage boy. He doesn't have a firm grasp on how young males think and behave. Granted, these boys are in extraordinary circumstances, but boys will be boys.

Anyways, I will read "Knife of Dreams" to maintain my Ji'e'toh.

I hate it when I read a book and I start to use the dialect written in it. I've caught myself almost exclaiming "Blood and Ashes!" before to my extreme dissapointment. When I was in high school and read "A Clockwork Orange", I was talking like Alex for a week...

"When will Jesus bring the porkchops?" by George Carlin

Next:

"The Universe: From flat earth to quasars" by Issac Asimov

My dad heard I've never read it and about flipped out. Gave me his 32 year old copy with strict orders to "Read this, son. After 32 years it's still the most easily digested explanation of all that confusing astronomy stuff."
