hey metranon-- about firefox

try this to speed up firefox

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return.
Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 15. This means it will make 15 requests at once.(edit the article said 30 but i cut it down to 15 and it still works fast)
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Kinda hammers an HTTP server making up to 15 requests at once though.

Now make it stop popping up error messages that I have to press "ok" to.

If only myie2/maxthon hadn't turnedinto a crash happy piece of shit over the last few months I woulden't have to deal with firefox. Hopefully MS will get off their asses and put tabbed browsing into IE.

Might want to check the Mozilla forums and see if anyone else has the same issue you do.

MyIE2/Maxthon and Avant are based on IE so they're still as vunerable as IE to misc. crap.

Its awefully hard to get infected by misc crap if you don't automatically download activex by default or something equally retarded. I have no issues other than the goddamn thing crashing so much now. The older versions were much better.

Oh, on a side note, is there a browser that ESPN.com can't crash? I think not! It even brought down the mighty konquerer. Sad times.

Internet Explorer sucks. Here's why (kind of old but still valid).

This one is common, but misleading. It might seem to do something faster, but it will always slow the total load time since you force it to re-flow the page multiple times per load.
