MS AntiSpy: No more free porsches. Sorry i put this in the mmorpg thread, but i thought everyone would appreciate this. in case you didnt know microsoft came out with an anti spyware program. I just got it and its pretty sick. i ran it after i ran adaware and it found a bunch of stuff adaware missed. it even tells you programs that can potentially install spyware on your pc as well. defenitly worth downloading, but you need a legitimate copy of windows to get it. https://www.microsoft.com/athome/sec...e/default.mspx

don't MS bash for no reason. The only fault I have with the company is over pricing and agressive buisness tactics. However, that's why Bill Gates could buy and sell all of you. Anyways, this was developed by a company called Giant which was bought out by Microsoft. Enjoy the beta while it lasts. Oh, and you don't need a legit copy of windows. If you read the links you can download it without installing their certificate program. And you can turn off automatic updates if you right click mycomputer and goto properties. I'm tired of people complaining about "problems" when they just don't know their own fucking software. Last edited by Bralkan : 01-16-2005 at 11:54 AM.

It found a ton of stuff that other programs didn't find. As Bralkan says, you don't need a certified copy of windows. I don't have one and I downloaded, and used it just fine. Thanks for the link!

edit: installed kazaa lite to test something, and this scanned right over it with no problems. PestPatrol seems the only thing that can find the ad-aware in that program. Part of the reason so many have spyware is because they're still using a microsofts IE.

Most spyware software out there sucks ass and has rates of 60% and less. Even recommended ones like Lavasoft's Ad-Aware I just ran ad-aware and it found 1 tracking cookie in the IEcache. I use Firefox, no idea what IEcache actually is. MS AS found a couple of spyware things right away in programs I Have had for over a year on my PC now. Totally it found 5 threats and 82 files... ![]() pretty funny though that it gives .wav files as spyware now =P Last edited by Quineloe : 01-16-2005 at 12:41 PM.

| Ad-Aware is garbage...all it finds are cookies. Spybot used to be pretty decent...stopped using though after I d/l'd what I thought was version 1.3 and it installed 9 pieces of spyware. But ya...this MS one is pretty nice.
