That's a pretty wierd concept to me. I run Debian linux on my home computer and I installed it once about 6 years ago. It just updates itself automagically and when I upgrade my computer I just clone the hard drive rather than do a reinstall.

the biggest reason for "gaping security holes" in anything MS related... is MS owns the market.

who tries to hack mac's?

who writes virii for unix systems?

no one. in doing these things you want to

a) target the option with the most use
b) target the users with the least experiance

guess which that is? no one gives a fuck about hacking/fucking up mac's, because windows systems are what, 90+% of the user market? same with unix. oh cool dev null im so leet !

i can almost guaruntee if you are posting on this board, you have enough common sense to operate windows safely and correctly.

To tell you the truth, im far from a computer geek. My first PC was that which I used for EQ back in 99', and since then I have built my own using newegg. But Im far from a geek, there is just alot of shit I do not know about PC's

That being said I have never had a virus or plagued my PC with spyware and such. In fact on my new PC m not even running a Virus detection program. You just have to use some common sense, keep the shit clean, and becareful what you download.

But my wifes laptop I bught her for her birthday a couple of years back gets fucked every3-4 months it seems. She insists on downloading stupid programs which include new "Smiley faces" for her emails, but at the same time plaguing her PC with the worst spyware available.

I keep on telling her not to download that junk but she does not listen. So every 3-4 months I get to watch her sad face when her shit goes down, IE does not work, and I end up reformatting and blowing away all her shit she managed to assemble in the 3-4 months. It brings me joy to do so

Just tried that MS beta Anti-Spyware software on this guy's system which I knew was inundated with that crap. Well, it did no better job than Ad-Aware in removing the stuff. Ad-Aware did not successfully remove some of the spyware nor did the MS Anti-Spyware (both had trouble with the same ones).

Wipe and reload time...
