Bypassing administrator login? Getting online.

Simply that, the network that I am dealing with requires an administrator login/pw to access the internet.

I've tried seeing if it was linked to "hot" programs Ie: internet explorer, by installing eq/sc/WoW and none of them will connect to server, or in any way shape or form come "online"

I also tried linking the network ethernet into an independant computer (One not administrativly protected) to no avail, although I didnt think it would matter.

All the connections run through a central server.

Any way around this? Not only program/software wise, but hardware wise? A way to take advantage of the connection?

It really depends how/what you are logging onto.

Keystroke logger!

When you attempt to access internet explorer it prompts you with a server file type login/pw (normal windows fanfare)

There are literally hundreds of computers, and i'm pretty sure each segment (1-5 and 5-30 or so) goes through its own independant server.

I'm no telnet expert, but I know some of the computers have a telnet prompt, if that helps. Not all do however.

Proxy or firewall

Check IE for proxy settings. if there are some in there, it means you're going through a proxy server and you won't be able to play WoW.

If your IE isn't using a proxy server, you could be behind a firewall that is setup to intercept HTTP requests and do authentication before it'll pass the web requests outside.

They could also have programmed just to allow ports 80 and 443 outside, therefore WoW wouldn't work because it uses UDP and uses non standard ports.

You could always try tunneling with SOCKS and various other tunnel programs out there but they're slow and unreliable when you're dealing with UDP.

The proxy settings in IE would only affect IE. WoW(and other programs) would hit the firewall, assuming he is behind one, and not necessarily the proxy entered in IE.

Try telnetting/ftping to any site outside of your network (i.e. on the internet) - do this in a command box.

paste the prompt.

if you can get out on ONE port (TCP) then you can do anything on the internet with a little play. :P

Hope you don't have some commercial shit like bluesocket going on though. No idea how to break that!

re:

Well, turns out I lucked out.

Just got my new laptop, brought it to work, apparantly there is a wireless network here, or in the vicinity. (It's a huge hospital complex with a ton of annexes)

I'm getting a solid 20kb connection, loaded up zonealarm and *cough* windows firewall to give myself some layer of protection.

Problem solved?
