Computer Help Im curious... I recently bought a "Ultra Drive Bay Freezer" and im trying to hook it up to my computer (new) and cant find any power supply slots to fit the one on the cord that came with the freezer. (i beleive it is a 12v, its about 1in or so big and has about 4 or 5 prongs on one side and 4 or 5 slots on the other) So i hooked the cord into my cd rom drive and then pluged the cd rom cord into the back of the bay freezer plug (kinda like you can do with a christmas light string) and now the fans work but both cd rom drives come up when i start the computer as not being connected. (fyi they seem to be linked together hence why they both come up not connected) What my questions are: 1. What may be the cause for why fans are working but roms are not, are these plug mad to act light christmas light plugs where you can hook multiple ones up to one plug? 2. Is it possible to change the plug from the larger 12v plug with 4 or 5 prongs to a slimmer plug such as the ones that can be pluged into a cd rom(smaller connecter with multiple small pin looking things) or any other plug type that i may have. 3. Is there any way I can tap into anther power cord, there is a cord set up for the third drive bay I have but it has the wrong plug on the end it has one of the tin ones, there any way i can tap into that? Im a newbie when it comes to the insides of a computer so just ask me to clarify anything, im desperate any help is good help Last edited by LexarkT11 : 01-04-2005 at 09:42 PM.

To clarify further, the cd roms are both getting power beacuse they both open, they are just not being recognized by the computer for some reason, any way to fix that???

cd roms So... the cd roms have power but arnt recongnized? did you check and make sure the IDE cables are seated properly? Thats the big ribbon like cable coming out the back. Make sure they are getting a tight fit and are connected to the board in IDE2 possition. (unless you are running serial ata and dont have any IDE hard drives then just place it in IDE1 or the primary slot.) If they are connected and still doesnt work tryin removing the power from that crazy fan unit thing and just hooking the cdroms up to the power as they were before. If that still doesnt work then you probably broke something =P
