Seconding the Fallout 2 and Final Fantasy 7 recommendations. And Panzer Dragoon Saga if you can get it on a Saturn emulator (no idea if an emulated version exists, but it's a fantastic game.)

One of them was an RPG, I'm told that it's quite hard to get a hold of now because of some botched distribution or something like that.

I don't know about best ever, but KOTOR certainly makes my top 5.

I'm a big FF hater though...

not to derail but there are ways around a firewall. Do a seach for "proxy avoidance" on google.

I can attest to the rarity of Panzer Dragoon Saga. I had a copy that I sold on ebay and it went for $160. $160 for a game that only takes ~16 hours to finish from start to end (including finding extras). The game was on like 4 cd's as well. It was a fantastic game for it's time and still ranks up there as far as overall game design imo. No clue if a version exists on emulator.

Emulator run such games as Secret of Mana (though its most fun with friends on the old console.. *sigh*)

Honestly, if you're going to play an emulated console game, get the SNES Zelda, it is the greatest game ever made.
