| LOTR: RotK EE Confusion It's been many years since my LotR nerd-dom, so I've forgotten all sorts of shit, thus was confused by a new seen from the EE version of RotK. When Gandalf is riding to go save Faramir, and he runs into the Witch King, how the hell is the Witch King able to break Gandalf's staff? If I remember correctly, Gandalf is a maiar, and one of the most powerful ones to boot, whereas the Witch King is simply one of the humans corrupted and twisted by Sauron. So is there actually an explanation for the Witch King owning the shit outta Gandalf? Or is it just PJ takin a little poetic license?

| The Witch King owns Gandalf at the gates of minas tirith in the book as well The Witch King was the greatest of the human's who took the human rings of power Even though he was once man, the rings are still powerful and being a wraith and all, he's pretty uber Gandalf being a maiar means little.. Saruman after all was killed by "conventional" means... indeed given that Sauron was a Maiar himself and was the big dude in Middle-Earth (more powerful than even Gandalf), there is a good chacne there are shades of power within the Maiar |
