Final Cut Pro // Titles

For my class (Video Documentation), I have recorded a few performances and now I need to put them in final cut pro to put titles on them to prep for a dvd. I've logged and captured the pieces that I plan on using, but this is where I'm stuck. I don't know how to put a title (I'm presuming I need to create an image via photoshop) for final cut.

There aren't any grad students here yet, but I'm hoping someone will post a reply on how to do this. :| I've already tried googling for answers, but it just brings up scrolling titles which isn't what I'm doing.

Just to reiterate: This is for a DVD! I need to create one of those title pages to go to the piece of my choice.

you need a menu select screen? I don't know about Final Cut, but when I edit with Vegas, the DVD architecture (menu, chapters, etc), is done in the DVD burning program, and not in the video editor.

Do you want end titles, titles at the beginnig of your video, or lower thirds?

On your video generator effects there should be a tab that says "Text" where you can do things like just plain text, scrolling text, etc.

If you put your text above the video clip on your timeline, the text should appear on your video. Then double click the text so you can edit it.

If what you need is a dvd menu screen, then you can't do it through final cut, but through DVD studio Pro (which comes with the final cut studio)

I don't know if anything that I said made any sense at all. But if you are a bit more specific, maybe I can help you

DVD Studio Pro is it. I was able to figure it out with the help of some grad students. Thanks, Feien. Didn't know it was through a separate program.
