Looking for a good php & mysql book Heya all. I'm looking for a good book that teaches php programming, and some mysql usage. I'm a pretty big fan of O'Reilly, they have this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/059...lance&n=283155 I have some pretty solid programming experience, so something intermediate would be good. Anyone have any suggestions? Last edited by PigBenis : 08-31-2006 at 01:27 PM.

If you've got "solid" programming experience, why buy a book? http://devzone.zend.com/node/view/id/627 http://us3.php.net/manual/en/index.php MySQL examples coded in PHP can be found all over the web.

The basic PHP syntax is really simple, and well documented - and you don't need a book for that. The biggest part of PHP is the function libraries and the online annotated manual covers those better than a book. I'm like you, I tend to prefer books to online resources, but in this case the online manual is very good. If you really want to read something, just dump it to dead tree.
