Need a serious website designer for small business site

I need a professsional website built with E-commerce functionality. If all I needed was a shitass template I would do it myself. I need someone who can program and add some specific things into the site. It really shouldnt be that difficult for someone who knows what they are doing. Ive got a bunch of quotes coming in, so the price must also be reasonable. If your interested PM me.

I charge around 700-800 US a day for custom development work, and without knowing what you want a custom site would take 3-5 days.

This is a serious opportunity for someone out there. We need a legitimate web guru. I repeat this is the real deal. If we find the right person we may offer a ownership stake. The site is not media heavy, nor is it art heavy although some charts/graphs will be used based off an end users activity on the site. (this data is for the end user, not admin) We need someone who will be committed to making a professional business site with potentially thousands of concurrent users.

Post it on scriptlance.com. Some good designers there for sure.

Thats fairly typical considering you don't tend to work every day as a freelancer, and a lot of time is non-billable, hunting down leads, doing proposals etc.

I should have said I would charge $700-800 a day (if I freelanced), but I don't as it's too much trouble to keep work coming in.

for me it all depends on what im doing for the site. If all im going to build is a CMS then i definately wont charge as much as i would if the site was alot of ajax components

Thats why I think a time based rate is fair, a CMS site will take less time to develop than a site with heavy AJAX. Really you should get a brief, put together a proposal with best guess on timescales and price accordingly with clauses to handle the ever shifting requirements of some clients.

In the end, the value of your time should be the same whether your doing something simple or complex.

rule number 1 in software engineering: you bill the customer for every hour you spend working on a project =)

$100/hr is pretty much the minimum for someone who knows what they are doing.

MS pays $165/hr for my work.

Edit: Saying you want a serious and professional site "design" is misleading. Designers and programmers are generally different animals.
