Bootable USB flash drive

Anybody have any experience making bootable flash drives? I've tried Hiren's and Bart PE's techniques and can't get either one to work properly. Basically, I would like to have Hiren's boot cd or something similiar on a usb flash drive.

If it does, USB-HDD (or something) should be an option under the boot order list in the BIOS.
