i think you're being a bit over dramatic pal. you make it sound like someone is going to drag you out the pasture and put you down.

keep in mind that over the last six and a half years the format of this board has changed from being a guild's personal forum to being a hub for the internet gaming community. yes, there are 4channeres here now but they are pretty much every where on the internet nowadays. they are indeed annoying but remember these are just little fruits with social disorders, so i don't see how you can really get upset about anything they say.

People have been spelling doom for years, that this board is going bye bye. We've lost tons of old school posters, the discussions are nowhere near as intense as they were early on. But this went from being all about EQ to diversifying and its done an excellent job imo. Other Games, General, Screenshots have all increased in popularity and have grown the user base. There are lots of interesting discussions on a range of subjects now, not just WoW/EQ.

Screenshots, I imagine is easily 1/2 the traffic this site receives (atleast by the view count), I remember the days when there was barely a post a month there.

*shrugs* :P Shit changes, it's still the best forum I read.

I think Kegkilla pretty much summed this thread up. I can say, with 100% certainity that I agree with him. Some of you people are making, and excuse the pun, "the internets is serious business" way to far.

FOHSS, is amusing, but I am in no way apart of that crowd for better or for worse. They do crack some very funny stuff in there, but like most of the internet the funny doesnt come right out at you, you have to sort through mostly retarded shit.

Although I will say lately, IRB has been trolling it up real good lately in General (which between that and Sports) is where I post most often. I think some people have the intent to get - internets, which to me is the only downfall of the system. But only a handful of people seem to be doing this, so not that big a deal.

I read FoH and Fark. And a few computer/technical forums just for raw info on devices and such.

I think screenshots has gotten alot funnier, and the rest of the forums have gotten alot more substantial.

IMO these forums have gotten to be alot more useful and high quality. Millies Forums are by far some of the best forums I've visited, just because it's a bunch of people discussing things from a semi-similar background (old MMO and video game players).

Out of all my RL friends, I have ONE who likes Marvel Movies, Video Games, WoW, and random bullshit as much as me. The rest of them don't even bother go to see movies like Iron Man or Wanted, let alone talk about them. And god forbid I talk about how cool SC2 or D3 will be, I just get called a nerd and summarily dismissed.

The Internets rating system is just fun and games. Eventually all the trolls and douches will have rated enough of the regulars that they can't vote again, and in 6 months the internets will be pretty boring since you can only rate a person once.

This is a good point. I'm in the same situation, where my RL friends don't give a shit about basically anything related to the internet. It's a good balance, they keep me from becoming too big of a dork.

that pretty much sums up why I'm here.

The fact that people can post pretty obscure questions like, Millie's Post on norwegian food, or good US vacation spots close to montreal or a million other very specific questions. And in reponse get pages and pages of answers from people with first hand knowledge of the topic. There is a lot of great information shared on this forum.

And yeah since we're limited to 1 vote per person soon all the active people will have no-one to give internets to.

Edit: I had an idea for another interesting stat.

Could it also show our rep given? So if someone has given 10 -internets, and 6 +internets, theyre given internets will be -4. Would be fun to see whos a dick giving nothing but negatives.
