+1 Internets | Please, pretty please, can we have a forum to post about computers, technology, and tech support sort of things. There are a lot of people on this forum who know things about computers, and then there are people with problems with computers. While you could post it in general, people get frustrated and annoyed after the millionth "my computer broke" thread. So, could we please get a forum for computers and what not? I have a good feeling it will get a lot of use. ![]() |

| It makes sense, but drugs are distinctly close to science. It would be difficult to categorize them unless it's just for the sake of people wanting it to get high rather than pharmacology.

| I'd love a distinct computer and gadget forum, a science forum (could go with computers, but i see the computer forum mainly for "hay guys, my machine is doing something odd..." kind of posts), and a drug forum. Mainly I'd like to see the drug forum not part of science and tech because I'd like to be able to read about science and tech without having Team Crackhead fagging up the joint. |

+16 Internets | It's my opinion that a thread created a bout computer/tech, science, or drugs would probably be worse off in an isolated forum than general. I think that someone wishing to have a new forum will have to have an argument of why this is not the case for the topic of their desired forum.

| General has really come into its own this past year, and what was once a seldom-used forum full of tumbleweeds and cricket chirps is now a thriving community. The problem with creating new forums based on subtopics of General is that they're not going to get as much attention as they would in General. And people are going to figure that out, and start posting their topics in General because of it. Which defeats the purpose of the new hypothetical forum. That said, Tech/Computers is probably the most logical idea I've heard suggested so far for a new forum. It makes sense for this board, and it is a frequent enough topic on General that I don't think it would be totally abandoned or isolated if spun off into a new forum. So it's a tough call. Personally speaking? I would suggest changing the "Development" forum into an all-purpose "Tech" forum. That way a seldom-visited forum gets rebranded with a broader and clearer purpose, and everybody wins. |

| well, the first thing that comes to mind for a computer help/tech-ey forum would be that people would be more inclined to post (less afraid of being flamed FOR posting) individual questions or issues. People could put forth very specific questions or ask opinions on very specific subjects that may only apply to them without fear of being chased off over it. Of course if all the tech questions left general...it'd be a political forum ![]() |

Thats the answer right there. Change Development, which is seldom used to a Tech Forum. Good call. | |
