search function

is blocked by the advertisements if I'm looking at a title page. have to go to a page with no ad (like new post or usercp) in order to actually use it

Me too, however you can use the 'search this...' bar shortly below the previously mentioned advertisement.

This happens with several of the ads, and if it does, just refresh the page until you get a banner that doesn't block the Search function.

Alternatively, you can select "Search Forums" from the pull-down "Forum Jump" menu at the bottom right of your screen. It's up near the top of the menu when you click on it.
