Links = tab vs. new window

No clue if this was ever suggested, but when you click one of the links in the live-update box in the UberGuilds banner at the top, or (url)-tagged links in posts, would it be possible to have it open tabs in IE7 and whatnot, instead of a new window, if possible?

Sometime soon we're going to make the uberguilds block switch pages so that people don't have a bunch of windows open refreshing it's contents every 15 seconds. We're holding off on that until the block is implemented on most of the sites on the network, so that it's always available as a navigation tool. Later down the road we'll make it a user-specified option as to whether you'd like it to spawn a new window, possibly a new tab(I'm not sure if that's possible off the top of my head) along with many other options.

Can/do you track the statistics from those links? Interested in how many cross-forum clicks are you getting.

Hmm, mine opens up in tabs, not a new explorer. Have you tried setting the preference in IE7 to open a new tab when you click a link?

In newest version of firefox, it opens in a tab.

Requiem, can you clarify exactly what you mean by "switch pages?" I would assume that you're talking about switching from the way it is now, where it opens in a new tab/window, to where it opens in the same window (unless one right-clicks and selects to open in a new tab/window per one's browser function)...however, I can't be sure as the term is, to be fair, just a little bit vague.
