EQ lost it as a raiding game for me when one of the likely variables for success was chance for disconnect. Perhaps encounters are faster now then when I put my few years in -- I started in Velios stopped when I got time flagged. But knowing that an encounter took 45 minutes thus a disconnect by any one of 2 dozen people (out of 72) starting from scratch, or worse: a blown event, makes for a really lame design. Rathe Council, for example, was fun once. Once. Every wipe, every single one we had, was caused by one too many disconnects to clean up. 1st Emp Ssra kill on my server took over 3 hours for that one encounter. Fuck 112112112112112112112112 for 3 hours.

WoW has a little bit of this, but not on such a grand scale.

EQ world, Wow Engine. That would be fun.
