With all the trash, I'm not sure it'd take only one hour, and even if it did, it's mostly one hour of trash, which most people wouldn't do for the small chance of one person getting a shiny mount. Useful for people who want to get kael's quest necklace, or vashj's healing mace tho(not sure about other items, but I know those are good since I play a healer, and the alternatives are scarce at best), and also for people who want the MH ring quest.
As for paying 2k for the vials, considering this will be on PTR for months, it's not really wasted money. Before 2.4 goes live, you'd probably have time to get 2T6 even in guild that doesn't have illidan on farm yet. Depending on your class, you might even get full geared into offset epics and such. One of our hunter started playing again, he gets like 2-3loots per week for minimal dkp price since no one else can use it, he converted blues and kara epics to mh/bt loot.
