| I'm not one for getting into these discussions on the internet. When i have, it generally turned into a big pile of shite.
However, i really do not buy into this fear that these "terrorists" are trying very hard to destroy our way of life. And the key words in that statement is "very hard". I have no doubt that there are people / groups in this word which would like to do this, but wanted to do something and actually acting on it are two completely different things.
Infact i would go as far as to say that the current "Terrorist" threat is akin to the "People's Front of Judea" from the Life of Brian. All talk, a small bit of action and nothing more.
I know and appreciate that America was attacked on Sept 11. However, i have a massive failure of understanding that these people were able to hijack 4 planes, avoid security during the planning stages, and the implementation, destroy 2 iconical structures and hit a heavily guarded structure - yet, they are unable to carry out anymore terrorist activies.
From what was planned to happen on Sept 11th, then it should be extremely easy for "said terrorists" to either:
1) Buy guns in America and go on a shooting rampage in crowded areas or,
2) Construct bombs to be used as suicide devices in said crowded areas.
It's not as though, it's difficult to enter America via the "back-door". Millions of Mexicans can testify to that, and i do have difficulty believing that the American intelligence has improved to be THAT good to stop all these waves of attacks.
I also appreciate the arguement of "If we don't fight them over there, then they will be over here". But does that make any REAL sense? If you wanted to destroy and murder a country, would you really fight in a situation where you are fighting against heavily armed troops, or would you head to the source of said troops, an easily accessible (and it is, see the Mexican point) home source and wage your campain there?
Of course, they maybe stupid and not understanding this, and perhaps (and i'm not a military expert) this is the truth in their actions. But considering that they were able to implement such an attack on American soil as per Sept 11th, then again, i have a hard time understanding or even believing this way of thought.
Not having a pop at anyone, i've read thse threads on FoH and i know how heated they can get. |
