The only feedback from players, I've heard, was that there are a significant amount of fetch quests, and a lack of feeling of "purpose" (ie storyline) until the later stages of Kunark. Other than that, silence...
Any ideas?
Oh, and I'll definitely be looking into Gallenite's next project. I still have my reservations, but you never know. ~ Good luck. |
Here's something someone else wrote, but I agree with it so far:
The things I hate about ROK .....
1. Almost total lack of heroic content outside the dungeons.
2. Almost total lack of linked multi-mob encounters make AOE classes very very unhappy.
3. Quests that can be solo'd, yet which yield Legendary items.
4. Legendary items that aren't much of an upgrade (if at all) over Treasured quest rewards.
5. Faction grinding to the point you can see what a given faction merchant has available, only to discover that nothing they have is even as good as what you're already using, much less better.
6. Cabilis used to be a starting city, & one would think that like Kaladim, Klak'Anon, & Felwithe, it would be turned into a high level dungeon. But, no; it's just a quest area crawling with wimpy undead & a couple of ^ non-heroic nameds. Well, maybe we can hope it will become a real dungeon later on SMILEY
7. Kurn's Tower is visible, but can't yet be accessed. Of course, when it is, this formerly 10-15 zone will undoubtedly become a level 80 raid instance SMILEY
8. Mines Of Nurga -- an excellent small group dungeon in EQ1 -- is no longer a dungeon, just a cave system. The Temple Of Droga -- another excellent small group dungeon -- no longer exists at all, & has been replaced by a faction hub with which one can obtain faction. Joy! Two more dungeons eliminated in favor of faction grinds!!!
9. Not even a sniff of Kaesora or Veksar. Combined with #8, this means 4 dungeons from EQ1 are vanished completely. I guess that's maybe why there isn't anywhere near enough group content in ROK SMILEY
10. Largely, or even wholly borked itemization, of which the healer armor fiasco is only one small part.
The first couple of days in ROK, I was pretty happy, it was all fun, I was leveling & gaming with my guildies & all, & then, the farther I get into the expac, the more it all becomes crashingly the same. Every ROK overland zone is a matter of:
A. Find the sokokar posts
B. Find & do the quests that get you happy with the patrolling factions
C. Faction grind your eyeballs out
D. Wash-rinse-repeat in next zone.
I can only shudder to think what they're going to do to Velious SMILEY
--------------
Also, I know the land areas are larger than what we're used to with EQ2, but it still has that feel of zones scrunched together. It just doesn't feel as big as EQ1 Kunark. I would bet that the EQ1 LOIO, Dreadlands, SONH, Skyfire are larger than the EQ2 versions. This just further makes it feel like EQ1 is the sequel to EQ2, in that they made everything bigger and better.
Strangely enough it's still a good game by itself. However, if you remember what the source material was, and realize what the game could have been with the newer technology and updated graphics, it leaves you very depressed and disappointed.
