Everquest had tons of quests at release, looking back on those quests after playing games inundated with quests like WoW/EQ2 they seem few and lackluster, but at the time they were pretty awesome and comparable to quests in PC single player RPGs. However, bring me a werewolf tooth and a gypsy lute and I'll give you a crafted breastplate is not much different in essence from WoW quests, mainly the format.
To date though, no quest in WoW has been as immersing as EQs epics, prayer shawls, tradeskill earrings, GoD augmentation, etc. Then again, I guess that's the point.
I wish the market would stop looking for WoW killers and go for more niche gaming.
Edit - The Hole was added significantly after Temple of Sol Ro IIRC. I remember the Hole being added after Kunark release. |
